How to Restore a Database

Being able to restore from a backed up database can quickly return your unit back into normal operation in the event of a catastrophic event. This feature requires a recent back-up of your database and the procedure for creating a back up file is covered in a separate tutorial. To minimize the potential for lost sales data, a back-up should be performed daily.

The process for restoring a database is:

  1. Insert the flash drive into the USB Port on your entry system processor board or site server (if applicable).
  2. Go to the Utilities tab at the top of the screen, then go to Databases in the left frame.

  3. Select a restoration file from the list in the table, then click Restore.

  4. Click OK. Please note that no transactions should be in progress and that the units will restart when you click OK. The server will be restored to the previously saved version.
